DFW, Texas Birth Photography | The Dallas Home Birth of Asher Isaiah Dae

My favorite stories to share are those written by the parents.  Here is Asher Isaiah Dea Birth Story was written by his mother.

The 41st week arrived and I was so ready to see my baby.

My mom had already been in town for a week and only had one more week with us.  My hubby, Sam, took me to the chiropractor to get adjusted.

Side note, the day before Krisha, the sweetest doula, performed Rebozo sifting techniques on me to get Asher moved into a better location.  My tailbone was front and center and in the way.  Any who, getting the rebozo sifting technique to move Asher and then getting adjusted to move the tailbone back in place allowed labor to start smoothly.  Finally!

At about 4 ish am I called Patty, my midwife, and within an hour she arrived.  By then my contractions were in full swing. After some pretty strong contractions I was able to get into the tub, hallelujah!! There is something about being in the water that is so calming.  My amazing husband was so supportive and honestly a comfort for me.  Just his touch reminded me to breathe.  I didn't want to go through contractions without him there.  I remember my mom stepping in for him and it wasn't the same, bless her heart.

The contractions were very intense.  I remember the labor with my firstborn daughter and it wasn't as intense.  I was very much more vocal this time around.  With each contraction I felt Asher moving closer and closer to the cervix.

I honestly don't remember what time Terry, the midwife, Rachel, the midwife apprentice, and Kourtnie, the photographer arrived.  All I know was that the sun had risen.

With everyone here my oldest daughter, Ladori, woke up and got involved right away.  She rubbed my arms and my hair telling me I was doing good and reminding me to breathe.  In between a contraction Sam explained to Ladori about dilation and how big I have to dilate for her baby brother, Asher to get here.

The plan was for me to get out of the tub for Terry to do rebozo sifting techniques to get Asher in a better position to move things along.  I couldn't get out of the tub.  I tried. Every time I tried a contraction would come.  Finally I used what energy I had left to get out of the warm water, with help from my knight in shining armor.  As soon as I got to the bathroom, maybe 5 feet away from the birthing tub, another contraction came.  This one made me lean my head on the faucet of the sink.  With Sam applying pressure to my hips to help alleviate some of the pain we both shouted "My/her water just broke!"  I was so glad my water broke late in the game because with both of my girls my water broke a couple days before they finally arrived.

Instead of Terry doing the rebozo sifting techniques I was told I could get back into the tub.  I was so happy!  Each contraction that came became much more intense and I tried so hard to maintain calmness but I couldn't help but to yell and cry out.

I remember praying and asking for the very next contraction to be it, as far as Asher crowning.  I didn't know how many more I could take.  Terry sweetly prayed over me and I remember crying out even more during the next contraction and yelling he's coming! And screaming for Sam to hold me.   As Asher crowned I was going to let the contractions push him out but I pushed with all of my might and screamed.  And his little head crowned.  I felt Patty check if the cord was around his neck.  The next contraction came and his shoulders popped out.  And the last contraction he arrived!!! I turned over and saw that the amniotic sack was still covering him.  He was born en caul!

Having Asher placed in my arms by my husband was the sweetest relief ever!  I kept thanking Jesus!  And I looked over at my girls and the look of surprise and love on their faces.  I got out of the tub holding Asher in my arms and everything after was a blur.  I was full of oxytocin and I was exhausted from laboring all night and morning.

But looking back on the entire labor and birth I got everything I hoped and prayed for.  I remember reading someone else's birth story and wanting to experience intense contractions that pushed the baby out quickly.  And for the baby to be born en caul.  And not to tear.  And that is exactly what I got.  Prayer works people!
